A Twitch sub costs $5.99 a month for Tier 1 on the US website, $9.99 for Tier 2 and $24.99 for Tier 3. Buying a Tier 1 sub in the iOS or Android app costs $7.99, and a Prime sub is free for Amazon Prime members. The streamer keeps about $3.00 of a Tier 1 sub at Twitch’s standard 50% split, or up to $4.19 on the Plus Program.
Twitch subs (monthly)
Twitch sub price by tier
Twitch has three paid tiers and the free Prime sub. All paid tiers renew monthly until cancelled, and a gift sub costs the same as a normal sub at the same tier. The table shows US web prices and what the streamer receives at each of the three revenue splits Twitch pays.
| Sub type | Fan pays (US web) | Streamer at 50% | Streamer at 60% | Streamer at 70% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | $5.99 | $3.00 | $3.59 | $4.19 |
| Tier 2 | $9.99 | $5.00 | $5.99 | $6.99 |
| Tier 3 | $24.99 | $12.50 | $14.99 | $17.49 |
| Prime sub | $0 (included with Amazon Prime) | Flat $2.25 per US Prime sub | ||
The streamer figures are rounded to the cent: half of $5.99 is $2.995, shown as $3.00. They are before income tax and assume the fan paid the US web price.
Twitch sub price: mobile vs web
Twitch raised the US web price of a Tier 1 sub from $4.99 to $5.99 on July 11, 2024. Existing subscribers renewed at the new price unless they cancelled, and Tier 2 and Tier 3 did not change. Twitch said streamers would keep the same percentage share, so each sub now pays the channel more than before.
The app followed. From October 2024, new Tier 1 subs and gift subs bought in the iOS or Android app cost $7.99 in the US and other markets, more than 40 countries in all, with Tier 2 and Tier 3 unaffected. The $2 gap reflects app store fees. A viewer who wants to support a channel for less should subscribe on twitch.tv in a browser, which also works on a phone.
How much is a Tier 3 sub?
A Tier 3 sub costs $24.99 a month, more than four times a Tier 1. Viewers get the channel’s full set of sub emotes and a higher-tier badge. The streamer keeps about $12.50 at 50%, $14.99 at 60% or $17.49 at 70%, so one Tier 3 sub is worth roughly what four Tier 1 subs pay.
Tier 3 subs also carry the most weight toward Twitch’s Plus Program. A Tier 1 sub counts as 1 Plus Point, Tier 2 as 2 and Tier 3 as 6, so 50 Tier 3 subscribers alone reach the 300 points needed for the 70/30 split. Tier 2 at $9.99 is the middle option and pays about $5.00 at the standard split.
Twitch Prime sub
Amazon Prime includes one free Tier 1 sub a month, which the member can use on any Affiliate or Partner channel. It gives the same emotes and badge as a paid Tier 1 sub, but it does not renew on its own: the viewer has to reapply it each month, and it cannot be gifted to someone else.
Twitch pays streamers a flat amount per Prime sub, set by the subscriber’s country, rather than a share of a price. Since June 3, 2024 that amount has been $2.25 for a US Prime sub, down from $2.50 before the change and now well below the $3.00 a paid Tier 1 sub pays at 50%. Prime subs do not count toward Plus Points.
What the streamer gets from each sub
Affiliates and most Partners keep 50% of net sub revenue. Twitch’s share covers payment processing, so there is no separate card fee. The Plus Program raises the split: a channel holding 100 Plus Points a month for three consecutive months moves to 60/40, and 300 points for three months moves it to 70/30. Once reached, the rate is locked for 12 months. Twitch removed the old $100,000 annual cap on the 70/30 rate in January 2024.
Points come from recurring paid subs. Gift subs are paid at whatever split the channel holds, but they did not earn points when the program launched in 2023. For monthly totals by subscriber count, use the Twitch sub calculator; for one-off gift bombs, see gifted subs.
Twitch sub prices outside the US
Twitch uses local pricing, so a Tier 1 sub costs a different amount in each country. Its March 2024 web increase, for example, moved Tier 1 to £4.99 in the UK, C$7.99 in Canada and A$8.99 in Australia. The streamer’s percentage is taken from what the viewer actually paid, so subs from lower-priced countries pay the channel less than $3.00.
